Current Funding Opportunities

CTRC Pilot Awards

The Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC) at UTHSCSA is soliciting applications to fund cancer-related pilot awards in four program areas: Microbiology/Immunology and Cancer, Women’s Cancers, Minority Cancer Health Disparities in the CTRC catchment area and Other Cancer-related - to include any projects not applicable to the former specific areas of cancer research. We anticipate funding at least 4 pilots, possibly more.

Eligibility Criteria:
The PI must be a CTRC member to be eligible. Non-members are invited to apply for membership at the time of the application.
Investigators may submit to only one category of the options below and may submit only one proposal as PI. If no category is indicated on the application coversheet, applications will be reviewed as Other Cancer-related.

  • Microbiology/Immunology and Cancer: Projects should have elements of these two areas and include a PI or co-PIs that bridge the two areas. Special preference will be given in this category to PIs or co-PIs that participated in CTRC’s Immunology, Infections and Cancer Seminar.
  • Women’s Cancers: Projects must be directly related to cancer in women.
  • Minority Cancer Health Disparities in our catchment area: Projects should be directly related to Cancer-related health disparities in our catchment area or focused on cancers that are prevalent in the catchment area.
  • Other Cancer-related: Projects that do not fit the criteria above.
